M, 3rd Ohio Infantry during the Spanish-American War. It states that he enlisted at Wilmington, Ohio, on April 25, 1898 as a Private. He was discharged in Columbus, Ohio, on Oct. 26, 1898. (The war took place between April and August of 1898.) The record does not specify its type, but must be related to pension because it lists his current age as 51 and lists his wife as Ada Lovenshimer of Waverly, Ohio. Her address was R.R. 3 c/o of J.C.(?)Payton or Paylon. It says Bert Lovenshimer was born in Ohio. Details: Ht.-5'10", Complexion - White, Eyes - Brown, Hair - Lt. Brown, Read & Write - Yes, Religion - Prot., Occupation - Carpenter, Residence - Columbus, Ohio. Married. The record appears to show two pension payments (unclear). It also indicates that his discharge was "M.O." It also states that his discharge related to "injury of left foot." Additional Comments: Later information showed that Bert Lovenshimer was born on 1 Jan 1872 and died on 21 May 1939. He was buried at Dayton National Cemetery.
