Dean L. Lowther, age 70, of Columbus died Monday, March 29, 1999, at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital. Retired U.S. Navy Veteran serving 20 years, also retired from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, after 24 years service. Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Whitehall Post, U.S. Naval Fleet Reserve and the Central High School Alumni Assoc. Preceded in death by his wife Mary F. Lowther. Survived by children, Sarah Loring, Roy (Cathy Jo) Lowther and Joseph Lowther; grandchildren, Julie Loring, William Cokonougher, Tiffanie Lowther, Randie and Lindsay Lowther, Mary Ann Lowther, Christine Louise Lowther and Joshua Lee Lowther; great-grandson, Taylor Austin Loring; sisters, Grace (Bernard) George, Hazel (Joseph) Tigyer and Beatrice Close; brother, Robert (Maxine) Lowther; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 2, 1999, at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Burial Thursday, April 8, 1999, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Those who wish, may contribute to the James Cancer Clinic in Dean's memory.
