Official Illinois war records state that a Private Jacob. W. McCoy died of 
disease in Columbus, Ohio, on 13 March 1865.  The records claim birth in 
Portage County, Ohio; residence in Elkhart County, Indiana; and suggest a 
birth year of 1836.  A Jacob W. McCoy, with Ohio birth and an estimated 
birth year of 1836/1837, can be found living in Elkhart County, Indiana, in 
the 1860 Federal census.  Hence, the J. W. McCoy in Green Lawn Cemetery is 
likely Jacob W. McCoy.
