The Citizen, Columbus, OH, Thursday, 2 Feb 1905, pg. 8 FIGHT IN PENITENTIARY George Washington, a five-year Jackson county convict, and John Henry, a Hamilton county prisoner, indulged in a fistic exhibition at the penitentiary Thursday that cost each convict 15 days. good time and reduction to the third grade. A dispute over work caused the fight. WIFE ILL AND FAMILY NEEDY Harry Alexander, the mayor.s stenographer, has taken up the case of Novel Cobb, the colored man sentenced to the workhouse by Judge Wildermuth Tuesday for taking coal from the railroad tracks to prevent his sick wife and three children from freezing. On the recommendation of Superintendent Eagleson of the Associated Charities the service board Thursday furnished Mrs. Cobb with a supply of coal and groceries. Mr. Alexander is preparing a petition to the board asking that Cobb be released from the workhouse. MINISTER.S WIFE DEAD After a year's suffering with cancer, Mrs. Dunlap, wife of the Rev. Albert Dunlap, died Wednesday at 5:40 p.m. at her home, 144 West Fourth avenue. Mr. Dunlap was formerly pastor of the First Christian church in this city, but has lately been in charge of a church in Summerford. Mrs. Dunlap leaves besides her husband, four children. Chas. Dudley Dunlap, Mrs. Claude Brewer, Mrs. R. W. Lambard and Mrs. D. G. Lamb, all of this city. GLENN BECOMES DETECTIVE W. P. Glenn tendered his resignation Wednesday afternoon as secretary to Chief of Police O.Connor and the safety board accepted it. He will be succeeded by Officer Thomas H. Guthrie, the drillmaster of the department. Mr. Glenn will enter the detective department under Chief Dundon as a reserve at a salary of $60 a month. ==== OH-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ====
