BELLE SHAFFER IS TAKEN BY DEATH Lifelong resident of This Community Dies Tuesday After a Brief Illness Mrs. Isabelle Shaffer, aged 85 years, died Tuesday morning at 4:30 in the home of her son Hollis E. Shaffer, southwest of Metamora, after a brief illness. Mrs. Shaffer was born August 31, 1860, in Ai and spent all of her life in this community. She was one of seven sisters, two of whom survive her. Her husband, Peter Shaffer, to whom she was married February 20, 1881, died September 20, 1928. Two sons, Claud and Harry, also preceded her in death. She was a member many years of the Bethany Sunday school class of the Metamora Methodist church. Besides her son she is survived by a grandson, Pvt. Charles Shaffer of the U. S. Army Air Corps, home on furlough from Fort Myers, Fla. and sisters, Mrs. Delilah Smith of Swanton and Mrs. Alice Gordonier of Delta. Funeral services are being held this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Biehl-Malone Funeral Home, with Rev. J. L. Peck officiating. Burial is being made in Amboy Cemetery. (Second Obituary) ____________________________ Mrs P. J. Shaffer, 84 years of age, and mother of County Commissioner Hollis Shaffer, died at her home in Amboy township, Tuesday. She was one of the fine pioneer Christian women of that township. Nearly all her life was spent on the home farm near Metamora. Her husband passed away a number of years ago since which time she has made her home with her son.
