Be it Remembered, that at a Probate Court held at the Court house in the Town of Gallipolis County of Gallia and State of Ohio on the thirteenth day of November in the year of our Lord on thousand eight hundred and fifty two. Before Samuel B. Rathburn, Judge. Judge of said court, The Last Will and Testament of James Long, late of said county deceased was brought before said court for Probate; and was proved by the oaths of Thomas Wetherholt and Murwood Burnett, the two subscribing witnesses thereto, whose examinations were reduced to writing and signed by them, and it appearing to the satisfaction of said court, that the said James Long at the time of executing said Will was of full age, of sound mind and memory, and under no restraint, and that he has since departed this life. It is ordered by said court, that the said Will be admitted to Probate and the same together with the proof so made and reduced to writing be recorded in the records of this court which said Last Will and Testament and the proof so made as aforesaid are in the words and figures following "to wit." In the name of the Benevolent Father of All. I, James Long of the county of Gallia and State of Ohio, do make and publish this my last will and testament. First. I, give and devise to my Beloved wife in lieu of her dower, the farm, the farm on which we now reside situate in the county & State aforesaid during her natural life and all the Stock household goods and furniture provisions and other goods and chattels which, which may thereon at the time of my decease during her natural life time as aforesaid. She however selling so much thereof as may be sufficient to pay my just debts. At or after the death of my said wife, the Real Estate and such other property that may remain unconsumed and unexpended. I give and devise to my three sons, To Matthias one equal fourth part of all the property that may be left, both personal and Real after the death of my (a word is crossed out) wife. To Anderson, one equal fourth part of all the property that may be left both personal and real after the death of my wife. To James one equal fourth part as above, after deducting from his share $80.00 Money that I have heretofore expended for him. And to the children of my Daughter Elizabeth I give and bequeath to them, one equal fourth part of my property as in the above Bequests. I do hereby nominate and appoint Anderson Long Executor of this my last will and testament hereby authorizing and impowering him to compromise, adjust, and settle and discharge in such manner as he may think proper the debts and claims due me.
