Active Location: approximately 3.5 miles north of the Village of Chardon, on the southeast corner of the intersection of Ravenna Road (Old Rt. 44) and Clark Road. The older part of the cemetery (on the east side of the drive) is divided into 3 sections. South of that part is an undeveloped section. West of the drive is the new section where most burials take place. The clerk calls the lot number a section number and the grave number is the lot. Larned; (9350 Mentor Rd.) Active Location: about 3 miles northwest of the Village of Chardon on Mentor Road, also known as King Memorial Highway, just past the intersection of Hermitage and Mentor Roads. The layout in the older part was very irregular. Lot numbers were arbitrarily assigned King Street; (10600 Chardon Rd./Rt. 6) Inactive Location: across from St. Denis Golf Course, between Calico Lane and Fincherie Drive. During the 1940s, the stones were moved to Larned. The Chardon Township trustees elected to return the stones in 1999/2000. Since the original location could not be determined, they were simply placed in a line. Angel; no longer exists. What stones could be found were moved to Larned in the 1940s. Thwing; no longer exists. What stones could be found were moved to Larned in the 1940s. Clark; no evidence Sections and lots have not been identified for those marked "Unknown". Codes for Military Service (Vet.) Number codes were assigned for the various wars as follows: 01 Revolutionary War: 1776-1783 10 War of 1812: 1812-1815 16 Mexican War: 1846-1848 19 Civil War: 1861-1865 25 War with Spain: 1898 31 World War I: 6 Apr 1917-11 Nov 1918 41 World War II: 7 Dec 1941-31 Dec 1945 50 Korean War: 25 Jun 1950-31 Jan 1955 61 Vietnam: 22 Dec 1961-7 May 1975 89 Panama Action: 20 Dec 1989-31 Jan 1990 90 Persian Gulf: 1990-1991 NO None or Unknown PT Military Service not in the time of War Numbers 1 through 31 were assigned by an Official Government Project of the 1930s when cemeteries were surveyed and mapped to locate veterans. Information in parentheses came from other sources; i.e., cr & sr = Clerk’s/Sexton’s Record; c = cremains; (Map), the name appears on the map as owned or reserved. An entry such as: SMITH John ( ) means that there is no stone; at least there wasn’t when the record was compiled. *********************************************************************** ======================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================= SURNAME First Name Twp./Cemetery Sec.
