Newbury Township, (Range 8, Township 7), Geauga County, Ohio Cemeteries
Newbury Town Hall, 14911 Auburn Rd., Newbury, OH 44065; (440) 564-5997
     Newbury is the only township that does not charge residents for a burial site.  
A site cannot be reserved as arrangements are made at the time of a death.  An 
adjacent site is then reserved for a spouse.  There is a charge for opening and 
closing a grave.
								

Sections and lots have not been identified for those marked "Unknown".

 Number codes were assigned for the various wars as follows:

   10  War of 1812: 1812-1815
   16  Mexican War:  1846-1848
   19  Civil War:  1861-1865
   25  War with Spain:  1898
   31   World War I:  6 Apr 1917-11 Nov 1918
   41  World War II:  7 Dec 1941-31 Dec 1945
   50  Korean War:  25 Jun 1950-31 Jan 1955
   61  Vietnam: 22 Dec 1961-7 May 1975
   89  Panama Action: 20 Dec 1989-31 Jan 1990
   90  Persian Gulf: 1990-1991
   NO  None or Unknown
   PT  Military Service not in the time of War

Numbers 1 through 31 were assigned by an Official Government Project of the 1930s when 
cemeteries were surveyed and mapped to locate veterans.
 
Information in parentheses came from other sources; i.e., cr & sr = Clerk’s/Sexton’s 
Record; c = cremains; (Map), the name appears on the map as owned or reserved.  
An entry such as: SMITH  John ( ) means that there is no stone; at least there wasn’t 
when the record was compiled.
