He married Margaret (Mary on tombstone) Lee of Greene County, Ohio. He was an ordained minister of the Old School Baptist Church in 1833. He was a pioneer preacher throughout Southern Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. He was continually on the go, riding on horseback. He preached a funeral sermon July 1854 where he contracted Asiatic Cholera and died three days later July 1854. He was a Justice of the Peace and a major in the Ohio Militia. He is buried at Stewart Cemetery in Bowersville, Greene County, Ohio. He was the minister of the Caesar's Creek Baptist Church in Greene County.
