Dec. 7 1886 TITLE: "He Passes Peacefully Into Rest This Morning at 2 O'clock." The death of the venerable Dr. JOSEPH A. KYLE occurred at his home on Short street, this morning at 2 o'clock. For some four or five years he has been in feeble health and the past few months he has been confined to his bed and has suffered, intensely, being afflicted with paralysis. He had reached the advanced age of 74 years, having been born September ??th, 1812. His aged wife has been a faithful compaion and has nursed her husband through all these months of illness. The doctor was the father of a large family of children, four of whom are yet living, Mrs. GEORGE ROBINSON, of this city, one daughter who resides in Washington, Iowa, and two sons, one residing in Missouri, the other in Kansas. He was a brother of CAPTAIN JAMES KYLE, of this city, and had three sisters, Mrs. WILLIAM BULL and Mrs. SAMUEL BARBER, of Cedarville, and Mrs. HALL, of Cambridge, N. Y. DR. KYLE was well known and a highly respected man. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. JOSEPH KYLE and was born and raised near this city and has many friends throughout the county who will be pained to hear of his death. The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock. Additional Comments: I have above obituary in PDF format, if you want a copy. Obituary is for Dr. Joseph Addison Kyle. He is s/o JOSEPH KYLE and JANE GOWDY. His wife is SARAH ANN MOONEY, d/o ISAAC and MARY MOONEY. Both Dr. Kyle and his wife are buried at Woodland Cemetery in Xenia, Ohio. Someone wrote a note in the Woodland Cemetery records that the Sarah buried next to him is a d/o Joseph Kyle and Jane Gowdy, but that information is not correct. The Sarah buried in that plot is his WIFE, Sarah (nee MOONEY) Kyle. "Mrs. GEORGE ROBINSON" is MARY (KYLE) ROBINSON. The George Robinson referenced is author of "History of Greene County Ohio." These comment details corroborated by other sources, including obituaries of relatives, death records, cemetery records, Greene County Histories.
