They were living in Warren Township near Barnsville, Ohio very near his wife's father and other relatives. His mother died when he and his sisters were very small. Isaac's grandfather, Isaac Moore willed his son William Moore his homestead and directed him to give Isaac Ambrose Marshall and his two sisters each $50 when they became of age. Isaac Marshall was living with his uncle William Moore in Warren Township, Belmont County Ohio in 1850. He married first Eliza Wurfield who died August 1855 without issue except one child which died in infancy. He married Amanda Phillips October 30, 1861. They had children: Eliza Marie, Sarah Jane, Emily, Mary Rose, Martha, William, and Caroline Marshall. Isaac was a civil war veteran first serving in Capt. J. L. Deews' Company, Unattached Departmental Corp. Ohio Inf. Vol. from July 12, 1863 to November 1, 1864 and second, as private in Co. "E" 194th regiment, Ohio Infantry from March 1865 and honorably discharged October 1865. He served time in Washington D.C. guarding roads and bridges. Isaac moved his family from Ohio to Amboy Illinois 1870 and then 1878 moved to Rochester, Iowa. Everything they owned, except the family team and wagon was burned when the depot at Moscow, Iowa caught fire and was destroyed. Isaac purchased a small piece of property, and on it built a log house for the family to live in. This was later replaced with a farm house. The 1880 Cedar County, Rochester Twp, census reports that Isaac Marshall was born in Ohio, his mother born Ohio and father born Pennsylvania. He told his children that his father (or grandfather) was an Irish pirate so it is believed he was Irish. 14 February 1884 - The Local Record On Friday, the 8th, at his residence near Rochester, Iowa, Isaac Marshall, aged 53 years and 11 months. Deceased had for some time been afflicted with paralysis, and a few days before his death received an injury from a fall, when the inflammatory rheumatism set in, which went to his heart taking him off quite suddenly. Isaac is buried at Rochester, Cedar County, Iowa.
