Alloway, Science Hill J.O. Alloway, aged 52, of Science Hill, prominent farmer and old man, died of complications at his home Saturday afternoon. His parents were the late William and Talena Alloway, and he was born and reared on the farm seven miles south of Newcomerstown where he died. Mr. and Mrs. Alloway had planned to move from the farm to Newcomerstown within a week. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lily Alloway, three daughters, Mrs. Ed Page of Uhrichsville, Mrs. Dixie Little of Newcomerstown, and Miss Melva Alloway at home; one brother J.W. Alloway of Science Hill and a sister, Mrs. Mattie Asher, of the Newcomerstown vicinity. No funeral arrangements had been made last night. APRIL 10, 1930 PROMINENT FARMER DIED SATURDAY J. O. Alloway, 52, of Science Hill, prominent and highly respected farmer, died at his home 7 miles southeast of Newcomerstown, Saturday afternoon, April the 5th. His health had been failing for several months and a few days prior to his death pneumonia developed which caused his death. John Oscar Alloway was the son of the late William and Talena Alloway, and was born and reared on the farm where he died. He was a successful farmer, having spent his entire life on the farm on which he was born, and has become well knows throughout the country on account of his interest in the recent oil and gas development in the Guernsey field. Mr. and Mrs. Alloway had completed arrangements to move soon from their farm to their residence in Newcomerstown recently purchased from Dr. E.C. Spear. Surviving are his widow, Lily, and three daughters; Mrs Ed Page of Uhrichsville, Mrs. Dixie Little of Newcomerstown and Miss Melva Alloway of the late home; also one brother, J.W. Alloway and one sister, Mrs. Nettie Asher of the Science Hill vicinity; three grandchildren also survive. Short funeral services were conducted at the home at 1:20 Tuesday pm followed by final services at the Peoples church at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. Jeffers, pastor of the M.P. church at Newcomerstown officiating. Burial was made in the West Lawn cemetery. Additional Comments: Son of William R. and Tolena (Little) Alloway.
