ELLIS BARTHALOW, NCT. MAYOR DIES
HEART ATTACK FATAL AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS

The mayor of Newcomerstown, Ellis R. Barthalow, 66, died suddenly of a heart
attack at 8 a.m. today in his home, 203 South Bridge st., after being ill for
only several hours.

He had been in his office until after midnight last night where Tuscarawas
county officials and state highway patrolmen were questioning John L. Meek on
the death of Mrs. Martin Kamban in a hit-skip accident Thursday night.

Mr. Barthalow assumed his duties as may or Newcomerstown in January of 1946.  He
retired in 1944, after being employed as a blovk operator for the Pennsylvania
railroad for 40 years.

The body has been removed to Jones-Lydick and Castle funeral home, Newcomerstown
where funeral services are pending.
