Chalfant, 64, Warsaw Route 1, died in Pomerene Memorial hospital, Millersburg hospital at 2 a.m. Sunday. He had been in the hospital three weeks and in ill health for eight months. An oil field worker, Mr. Chalfant was born in Byesville, June 21, 1895, a son of Madison and Elizabeth Hughey Chalfant. He had lived in Coshocton county for about 19 years. He was a member of Spring Mountain Methodist Church and the Spring Mountain Grange. Mr. Chalfant was married March 24, 1915 to Frances D. Oliver, who died in 1950. On Dec. 15, 1951, he was married to Imogene Longstreth, who survives, with two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Mitchell of Cambridge and Mrs. William Squibb of Kent; three sons, Ellis O. of Columbus, Elmer E. of Joplin Mo., and Harold E. of the home; a step-daughter, Mrs. Joan Vaccano of Massillon; 12 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two brothers, Roy of Cambridge Route 1 and W. R. of Canton; three sisters, Mrs. Dessie Johnston of Canton, Mrs. Gladys Wycoff of Akron and Mrs. Estelle Maffett of Lakeland, Fla. One son, a brother and two sisters are deceased. Services in the Fischer funeral home at Warsaw will be conducted by Rev. C. F. Roberts at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Graveside services and burial will be at Byesville at 3:45 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight and until time of the services Tuesday.
