Family research as of August 2012
Sarah Dales was born May 20, 1820 at Ireland (although some believe Scotland) 
to William Andrew Dales (born at Ireland, died August 22, 1875 at Ireland) and 
Margaret Newell (born/died in Ireland). 
Sarah had five siblings found to date: 
Andrew William (born July 15, 1825 Belfast, Northern Ireland, married Mary 
Gawley June 23, 1852 Anahilt, Lisburn, Ireland, died March 24, 1907 Irwin, 
Shelby, Iowa); 
John (born 1830 Ireland); 
Jane (born 1835 Ireland, died September 29, 1880 Hull, Yorkshire, England); 
Nancy (born at Ireland) and 
Margaret (born at Ireland). 

Sarah Dales and William L. Carothers were married August 21, 1839 at 
Ballysorphy, Hillsborough, County Down, Ireland. They had two children in 
Ireland and emigrated 1846 to Guernsey, Ohio. Sarah's brother, Andrew William 
Dales, also emigrated early 1847 to Guernsey, Ohio. 

The couple had 12 children: 
1) John (born abt 1840, died between 1843-1844, both at Ireland);
2) William Dales (born September 9, 1843 Ireland, died May 28, 1865 USA);
3) John II (born December 27, 1846 Kimbolton, Guernsey, Ohio, married Mary 
Jane Campbell May 24, 1871 Roseville, Warren, Illinois, died October 31, 1915 
Stanberry, Gentry, Missouri);
4) George Patterson (born May 20, 1848 Kimbolton, Ohio, married Emma Ingram 
November 12, 1874 Kimbolton, Ohio, died March 6, 1900 Garner, Hancock, Iowa);
5) Margaret Jane (born September 26, 1850 Monroe, Guernsey, Ohio, married 
Alexander L Davis March 20, 1877 Guernsey, Ohio, died October 25, 1904 
Guernsey, Ohio);
6) James (born September 20, 1852 Liberty, Guernsey, Ohio,  died January 4, 
1897 Kimbolton, Ohio);
7) Agnes E. (born March 3, 1855 Knox, Guernsey, Ohio, married David A Thompson 
1888 Guernsey, Ohio, died January 30, 1915 Columbus, Franklin, Ohio);
8) Andrew Garfield (born June 25, 1857 Knox, Guernsey, Ohio, married Agnes E 
Graham December 20, 1888 Manilla, Crawford, IA, died April 16, 1908 Manilla, 
Nishnabotna, Crawford, Iowa);
9) Samuel M. (born September 24, 1860 Liberty, Guernsey, Ohio, married Myrtle 
Julia Eaton 1897, died March 14, 1933 Randolph, West Virginia);
10) Sarah Ann (born October 11, 1861 Liberty, Guernsey, Ohio, married William 
L Hosick January 10, 1883 Guernsey, Ohio, died September 19, 1943 Newark, 
Licking, Ohio);
11) Martha (born September 16, 1866 Liberty, Guernsey, Ohio, died before 1870 
same)
and 
12) Mary Dales (born October 18, 1869 Liberty, Guernsey, Ohio, married William 
F Thompson 1886 Ohio, died July 12, 1941 Newcomerstown, Tuscarawas, Ohio). 

Sarah Dales Carothers died January 27, 1903 at Kimbolton, Guernsey County, 
Ohio and is buried at the Mount Hermon Cemetery, Knox, Guernsey, Ohio.

Carothers 33, Sarah Carothers 27, Ann Carothers 7, Jno Carothers 5, Jno P 
Carothers 2. 

Found in the 1860 census living at Liberty, Guernsey, Ohio: William Carothers 
43, Sarah Carothers 49, William D Carothers 16, John Carothers 14, George 
Carothers 12, Margaret J Carothers 9, Agnes Carothers 7, Andrew Carothers 3, 
James Carothers 5. 

Found in the 1870, 1880, 1900 censuses at Knox, Guernsey, Ohio: 
1870: William Carothers 55, Sarah Carothers 51, James Carothers 17, Jane 
Carothers 19, Agness Carothers 15, Andrew Carothers 12. 
1880: Wm. Crothers 63, Sarah Crothers 59, Agness Crothers 24, James Crothers

1900: Says she had 12 children, 7 living. Widow: Samuel Brothers 39, Myrtle J
