West Liberty--John W. Howell, 82 of Bellefontaine, passed away (Dec. 15, 2012)
at Mary Rutan Hospital.

He was born July 19, 1930, in Cambridge, son of John F. and Lena (Larrison) Howell.

Survivors include his wife, Lois (Anker) Howell; daughters, Soozie
(Justin)Keller and Trisha Burton; son, John David (Nancy) Howell; nine
grandchildren, Shelley (Don) Robbins, John C. (Renee) Howell, Andrea Burton,
Bethany Burton, Nicole Burton, Keisha Keller and Jamie Brannon; seven
great-grandchildren, Tori, Damien, Samuel, Hannah, Holden, Makenzie and Hayden;
and brother, Bob Farrar.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Harold Howell; and a sister,
Mary Jirles; and a granddaughter, Shari Lynn Howell.

Mr. Howell was a 1948 graduate of Cambridge High school and retired as a master
sergeant after proudly serving 20 years in the U. S. Air Force.  He also retired
from DAB after 19 years.  He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.  His
special times were spent with his kids and grandchildren and his beloved dog,
Meko.  John enjoyed gardening, woodworking and playing cards.

A gathering of family and friends took place Dec. 19 at Jennings Farley Funeral
Home, WEst Liberty.

Graveside military honors followed in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
