Meighen,71, of 226 Race street, Byesville, died at 11:45 a.m. Friday (April 26) at Guernsey Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness. He was a retired employe of Hall & Barber Construction company. He was born at Salesville, Oct. 23, 1896, a son of Thomas and Ellen Hackney Meighen. Mr. Meighen was a member of the Main avenue Methodist Church at Byesville. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his widow, Gladys; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Holub of Byesville and Mrs. Norman (Norma Jean) Bradt of Pennsylvania; three sons, Donald of Cambridge, Bernard of Canton and Arthur of Byesville; two brothers, Ernest of Salesville and John of Ashland; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Reed and Mrs. Amanda Chester of Lore City; 13 grandchildren. The body is at the Scott Funeral Home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. Rev. Allen Rose will officiate. Burial will be in Guernsey Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
