Anthony Warburg, one of the retired farmers of Hamilton county, for many years was very active in the agricultural life of this section and still owns his valuable farm of improved land at Harrison. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, November 21, 1869, a son of Bernard and Mary (Rose) Warburg. Bernard Warburg was born in Hanover, Germany, and came to the United States with his wife, in 1846, and located in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he engaged in brick masonry. Later he purchased a farm in Harrison township, which he operated until 1896 when he retired. He died in 1902, and three years later Mrs. Bernard Warburg died. In politics, he was a stanch upholder of the Democratic party, and in religious affiliations was a devout member of the Roman Catholic church, and was a trustee of St. Aloysius Orphan Asylum, for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Warburg were the parents of eight children, as follows: John, Mary, Elizabeth, William, Harry, and Anna, deceased; Carrie, who is the wife of Frank Rolfes, of Harrison, Ohio; and Anthony. Anthony Warburg obtained his early education in St. Augustine's Catholic school of Cincinnati, Ohio, and later at St. Mary's College at Dayton, Ohio. He also took a course of study in the Cincinnati Business College. After leaving school, he engaged in the agricultural business on the home farm, where he remained until 1890. He then engaged in buying live stock and following the agricultural business, which he still continues buying and selling stock. Politically, Mr. Warburg is a stanch Democrat, and is a member of the Roman Catholic church. He married May 1, 1895, Miss Catherine Eilers, a daughter of Bernard and Mary (Flinker) Eilers, of Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr. Eilers was a native of Germany and came to this country when a young man, and located in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he engaged in the cabinet making trade. Both he and Mrs. Eilers are deceased. To Mr. and Mrs. Warburg were born seven children, as follows: Hilda, who is the wife of Ferdinand Duwel, and they have one child, Mary Catherine; Leo, who is at home; Paul, who is at home; Joseph, who is at home; Walter, who is deceased; Alma and Lawrence at home. Leo and Paul are both members of the Catholic Knights of America and both are assisting their father. In conclusion, it might be said that Mr. Warburg is held in high esteem by his fellow-citizens, for his life has been one of honorable transactions in business and integrity in all avenues of life's activities.
