My Great-Great Grandfather, John Jakob Hinderman, stayed with his sister in 
the Cincinnati Ohio for a period of a year.  He docked in New York August 
15,1854 and made his way to Minnesota in 1856.  Is there any directories that 
would list him living in the same house, as his sister.  Unfortunately, we do 
not have any name, first or married name.  He would have had his sons, Jacob 
and Andrew with him as his wife and other son died on ship over.  Another 
spelling of his name could be Jean Jacques Hindermann- spelled with one or two 
N's at the end.  He and She would have listed their birthplace as Colmar,
