   CHARLES E. VAN HORN, farmer, P. O. Vanlue, born April 17, 1843, in Amanda
Township, Hancock Co., Ohio, is a son of Charles and Sarah (Twining) Van Horn,
natives of Pennsylvania, and who were among the successful pioneer farmers of
Hancock County, Ohio. Our subject was educated in Amanda Township, this county,
reared on a farm, and became one of the prosperous farmers of his county.
October 17, 1866, he married Elizabeth, daughter of John and Rebecca Smith,
natives of Virginia, who settled in Wyandot County, Ohio. This union has been
blessed with five children, of whom Annie A. and Lorena Garnet are living; the
others died young. Mr. Van Horn, who is one of the prosperous farmers of this
county, lives on the old home farm originally entered by his father, and on
which he has made many modern improvements. It contains 100 acres of excellent
land, and is under good cultivation. Mr. Van Horn is a charter member of Mt.
Blanchard Masonic Lodge, No. 519, and member of the Commandery of Tiffin, also
of the Ancient Order of Scottish Rites, of Cincinnati, Ohio.
