All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/oh/ohfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Reta Wingate riwingate@verizon.net May 10, 2007, 9:58 pm The Morning Republican, Findlay, OH - 9 Sep 1909 DEATH OF CIVIL WAR VET CHARLES BEAMER PASSES AWAY NORTH OF ARCADIA Was Buried Tuesday and Had the Largest Funeral Ever Seen In That Section Findlay Comrades Were Present Charles Beamer, a veteran of the Civil war, died Sundat at his house in Washington township two miles north of Arcadie after an illness of complications due to a genearal breakdown. Mr Beamer was a member of Co G 118th Regiment OVI and served his country for two years and ten months. He was also a member of the Lutheran church. The funeral was held at ten o'clock Tuesday morning from his late home with interment in the Arcadia cemetery. The deceased was born in Tuscarawas county near New Cumberland July 14, 1838, making his age seventy-one years, one month and twenty-six days. When aged ten years, he came to this vicinity with his parents settling south of Arcadia while he lived till two years after his marriage in 1866 to Miss Lucinda McAnelly when they moved to the late house where he had since resided. Mr Beamer is survived by five children, Perry, Miss Irene and Miss Maude, at home, Louis and Mrs Cora ??? near the home. Ten grandchildren; two brothers and one sister also survive. They are George of Bowling Green, Mrs Mary Ann Moore and William of Arcadia. A number of Findlay comrades and other friends were present at the funeral and one of them states that it was the largest funeral he ever say. Mr Beamer was very popular and of kindly disposition.
