He followed the occupation of a farmer. His wife was born in 1808, and was a daughter of Marcus and Mary Elizabeth (Ream) Hide, who emigrated from Germany to Pennsylvania, where they lived three years, and thence moved to Crawford County, Ohio, and finally came to this county, the home of our subject. Mr. Frey had a family of seven children, two-A. F. and John-living; those deceased are Barbara Elizabeth, Mary, Rachel, and two sons who died in infancy.
