But Shockey Continues His March Around the World. Jackson, Miss., Dec. 24.—Samuel W.
Shockey of Ohio, who is walking around the world on a wager of $10,000, passed
through Jackson today. He goes from here to New Orleans, then next to Galveston and
San Francisco, and says he has no fears in making the long journey in forty-eight
months, the time allowed. Shockey has lost sixty pounds in flesh since he started
from New York, and his hair is falling out at an alarming rate, but he and his dog.
his only companion, are both in good health and spirits. He declares he never
experienced such delightful weather in his life as he has encountered in the south.
The thermometer registered 60 degrees today.
