She came to America with her parents in 1832 and in 1848 the family located in Hardin county in the northwestern part. That same year she was married to Joseph Miller. To them were born three sons and four daughters. Mr. Miller enlisted as a soldier in the Civil war, was taken prisoner and died in that horrible place, Andersonville prison, in 1864. Then was when Mrs. Miller's struggle in life began ut she came off more than conqueror, patient and unassuming through all her trials. Mr. Miller was a member of Co. H, 135th Ohio, and is buried at Andersonville, his being grave No. 11,811 of the 12,000 men buried there. Early in life she was christened in the Roman Catholic church but later in life she fully subscribed to the Protestant faith and united with the United Brethren church in which she remained a faithful member to the end of her life. Those of her children left to mourn her departure are Marion Miller of Malta, Ohio; Manoah Miller, Auburn, Indiana; Sara, wife of Wesley Lappin, of Ada; Jane, wife of Isaac Charles, of Hancock county; Mrs. Minerva Klingler, of Paulding county; one son preceded the mother to the spirit world. She had 14 grand- children and 11 great grandchildren, and also leaves a wide circle of friends to mourn her death. For many years they lived southwest of town, in the Klingler neighborhood, but her latter years were spent at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles, where her death occurred on November 27, 1911, at the age of 88 years, 3 months and 14 days. The funeral was held at the house on Wednesday, Nov. 30th, conducted by Rev. J.A. Guthrie, assisted by Rev. Noah Blosser, and the remains were laid to rest in Woodlawn cemetery.
