William Estle A Sketch of His Life and Travels I was borned in Highland County Ohio one mild from Newpetersburg own the 19th of May 1821 and was under my fathers and mothers control until the year 1826 when my Mother was thrown form A horse and killed and still under my fathers controle until the year 1828 when father Maried his second wife and on Acount of the Bad treetment of my step Mother I was forced to leeve home I then went to thomas Davis [husband of his sister, Elizabeth] Near New petersburg whare I staid untill the year 1836 when I Emegrated west to cincinnati whare I worked two months for A man by the Name of james louden in the stone quire. I then Emegrated to Boon county k.y. 10 Miles from covington Whare I worked two months in the Brick yard I then Emegrated from theare to the white River Bluffs Morgan county Ind. whare I staid one year I then Emegrated from theare to Wesfield Hamilton county Ind. 18 miles Above Indianapolis whare I staid one winter and summer I went from theare upto tipaknoo county Ind. and worked 18 months on the wabash and Era caNall I then went from theare down to Adica fountain county Ind, whare I worked one year with john Morow At the cabnit Bisness I then Emegrated from theare to Danville Vermillion county, Ill. wheare I staid for som time then I went from theare down to Perysville Vermillion county Ind. where I worked one year with john call At the shoo and Boot making Bisness I then Emegrated from there Big Racoon Park county Ind. in November 1846 [there is a record of William's marriage to Rhoda Embree, November 12, 1846 in the Parke County, Indiana Courthouse] I Maried A wife and staid theare until the 20th of Augist 1850 when I Emegrated to Iowa, stoping at Mount pleasant Henry co Iowa whare I staid one year when I Emegrated to Indianola Warren co Iowa whare I staid one year when I Emegrated to Desmoins, Iowa whare I staid until spring of 1861, when I volintured in the army and was in the service from the 27th day of May 1861 up to the 14th of Oct. 1861 when I had to be discharged on Acount of injuris Receved in the service in being transported from St joseph Mo, to Hanabel Mo on the Hanabel and St joseph railroad which has totly deabled me from perfarming manul laber I then went Back to Desmoine and was theare confined to the house and under the docters hand until the 22th of July 1870, when I came Back to old Highland Again. and I doo field to thank the lord that 40 years out of fifty seven has bin spent in the service of the lord and I am Not tired of the service yet for I doo Noe that wen I am don with time and timely things that I shal be Abel to ware A crown of everlasting joy in that Bright world abov amen. My father and Mother Both being members of the old friend quakers church from an erely life it gave me a Birth Wright in that church but it was Not until About the time that I was twenty-one years of Age that I ever atached myself to any church I then joined what was called the Campbellite Church but soon saw that thear profession did not agree with that of Mine I then got a letter from the Church and atached myself to the Newlite church, and our belief did Not coraspond atall and I obtained a letter from that church and when I Moved to Iowa I found thare a little Band of people there that called themselves united breathern & they truely ware a Christon people for they loved one another with a Brotherly love in Septemberr 1862 I atached myself to thear church and was Baptised in the Name of the lord jesus christ I was member of that Branch of christ's church Militant until July 1870 when I obtained a letter from the pasture of that church to bring with me to Ohio and in 1872 I handed my Name into the friends church At the old friends Church on fallcreek and became a member of that church. But theyre Profession does Not sute me for it is the lord god that I love and him onley that I serve, his spirit Baring witnss with my spirit that I have bin Borned of the water and of the spirit Aman.
