Robt. McDaniel, Nathaniel Walter, John Richardson, Amos Ratcliff, Thomas Cashatt,
John Hammer and George Rains, came from South Carolina and settled in what is now
Union township, in the fall of 1803. John Shockey, from Maryland, Evan Chancy, from
Pennsylvania, and James Marsh, from Kentucky, also settled in the same neighborhood
about the same time".
