April 03, 1873 March 20, 1873 On the 20th inst., Dr. John Shockey, of this village, was returning home from a sale, when the straps which held the single tree to the axle of his sulky broke, letting the single-tree strike his horse's heels. The horse finally broke loose, and when the Doctor was found he was unconscious, and had both arms broken a little above the wrists. One shaft of his sulky was run in the ground some distance and broken in three pieces; and the other in two pieces.
