For the past 6 months Mr. Wickersham had been in failing health until last Wednesday when Death's Angel called him home. For more than twenty-five years the family have lived in Chicago. Last fall they went to California, and about two weeks ago, enroute home, stopped in Preston, where he grew worse and passed away as above stated. All through his long illness the deceased bore his cross with hope and cheerfullness, resting assured of peace in the heavenly home. Those nearest to mourn his loss are the loving wife, Emma L., one son Arthur S. and wife of Chicago, three brothers, Martin P., of Des Moines, Cabel H. of West Branch and Joseph of Los Angeles, Cal., and four grandchildren, two girls and two boys. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Leonard A. Spooner of the Congregational church Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. By request of the family the minister read the twenty-third psalm and after prayer delivered a short comforting message based on the words of the Master: "I am the Ressurection and the Life, who so ever liveth and believeth in me tho he die, yet shall he live." Interment was made in the Preston cemetery.
