He came with his parents to Salt Creek Township on May 14,1817. He was united in matrimony with Rebecca Fry, daughter of Jacob Fry of the same township, on 11 March 1824 and moved to his own farm in Paint Township where he lived the remainder of his days. They journeyed together for over 57 years. His companion was laid to her last resting place 27 November 1878. He was the oldest of the family of George Snyder Sr. one of the early pioneers of this county. He had five brothers and five sisters; all his brothers and three sisters survive him. There were eight children born to this couple who have gone to rest.one daughter is deceased but four sons and three daughters survive. There are also 36 Grandchildren and 19 Great-Grandchildren. He was followed by a large concourse of people,neighbors and friends from his last residence to the Fryberg Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Shaffer of Winesburg and H. Sell of Benton in the M.E.Church of Middleton. The test was Revelation 14:13. Jacob snyder , aged 78 years, 5 mobnths and 25 days. The deceased was born in Westmoreland Co,. Pa, April 7th 1808 He came with his parents to Salt Creek Tp. this county, on the 14th of May 1817. was united in holy matrimony with Rebecca, daughter of Jacob Fry, of the same Tp. March 11 1924, and moved on his farm in Paint Tp. this county, where he lived the remainder of his days. They journeyed together over 57 years. There were eight children born to this couple who have gone to rest; one daughter has precided him, seven are yet living, three brothers and four sisters. There are thirty-six grand children and eighteen great grand children. He was followed by a large concourse of people, neighbors and friends. from his lase residence to the Fryburg graveyard. Funeral service were conducted by Roys Schaffer, of Winesburg, and A.Sell of Benton in the M.E. Church of Middletown.
