A Steele as leader. The band soon obtained quite a reputation for its musical proficiency and has steadily been kept up. When a vacancy has occurred by absence, removals, etc., others have been induced to take the vacant places. Mr. Steele held the leadership until 1881, with the exception of one year, 1878, when William Tripp filled the place. On the withdrawal of Mr. Steele, Mr. Wallace held the position for a few months until the election of Henry Olendorf, who still holds the position. The band is composed of twelve members and is one of the best in the State.
