He was born in Mason county, W. Va., September 20, 1878, a son of the late Thomas and Martha Burke and had resided most of his life in Mingo. He was a member of the Potter Memorial Presbyterian church and a retired employe of the Carnegie-Illinois Steel corporation after 45 years services. He was a member of the Jr. O.U.A.M. Surviving are his widow, Mrs Maggie Burke and these children, Mrs. Margaret A. Kropp, Steubenville, R. D. 4; Thomas Burke, Los Angeles; William H. Burke, Detroit; Blanche and Lydia Burke at home. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Iona Brannon and Miss Susan Burke of Lake Milton, O. Friends may call at the home where funeral rites will be held Wednesday 1:30 p.m., in charge of Rev. Ralph Thompson. Burial will be in the Oakland cemetery, Mingo.
