D. one thousand Eight hundred and fifty five personally appeared before me a justice of the peace within and for the County and State aforesaid Samuel C Porterfield aged sixty seven years a resident of Knox County in the State of Ohio who being duly sworn according to the law declares that he is the identical Samuel C Porterfield who was a flotilla man in the war with Great Britain declared by the United States on the 18th day of June 1812 that he entered the war as a flotilla man in the Month of September in the year 1812 a Captain of an aid boat for the purpose of conveining camp equipage provisions and ammunitions of war which I received at Pitsburg Pennsyllvania from Oliver Ossining and William B Foster and delivered the saim to John Vincent at Eary County in the State of Pennsylvania and Continued in said service for a term of one year. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which he may be entitled under the act approved March 5, 1855 He also declares that he has not receiveda warrant for bounty land under this or any other act of largess nor maid any other application therefore (signature) S C Porterfield We Andrew McCamment and Levi C Smith residents of Knox in the State of Ohio upon our oaths declare that the foregoing declaration was signed and acknowledged by Samuel C Porterfield in our presence and that we declare from the appearance in statements of the applicant that he is the identical person he represents himself to be (signed) Andrew McCamment Levi C Smith The foregoing declaration and affadavit were sworn to and subscribed before me on the day and year above written and I certify that I know the affiants to be credible persons that the claimant is the person he represents himself to be and that I have no interest in this claim William K Corbin J Peace State of Ohio Knox County I Alexander Elliott Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas within and for said County do hereby certify that William K Corbin Esq before whom the foregoing Declaration and Affadavit were sworn to and subscribed was at the time thereof and acting Justice of the Peace within and for said County duly commissioned and sworn as such and that the above signature purporting to be his is true and genuine and that he is fully authorized to do such acts.
