S. Briggs Died on Thursday, July 7th at 9:50 A. M., George Starr, eldest son of Robert P. Briggs, aged 17. "Nothing is our own: we hold our pleasures Just a little while are they fled; One by one life robs us of our treasures: Nothing is our own, except our dead." The death of our young friend, George S. Briggs, is a sad loss not only to the bereaved father and only brother, but to any community where an exemplary and conscientious young man is needed to exert an influence for good. Bur a few hours previous to the death of George he said to his agonized father, "Papa, I have no fear of death; my only sorrow is the pain of leaving you and Franky. But Papa," he added, "see that my brother is shielded from temptation and kept in the path of duty and right." "I have no remembrance", he said, "of ever having committed an act which will debar me of the rest of heaven." Loving and beloved, trusting and true, and with much to make life attractive, he has fallen asleep with the firm faith that his awakening would be among the songs of the redeemed in the Paradise of God.
