Mr. Briggs had been there for nearly two months as a result of a fracture to his hip sustained by a fall in his room in the Gage block. The funeral services were held at Evergreen Cemetery at 4 o'clock, Monday afternoon. Robert Briggs was one of the best known and most prominent of Painesville's older residents. For years he was in the livery and 'bus business here and was the first man to drive to the Pine Crest. During his long illness his old friends showed him many kindnesses which he much appreciated. He is survived by one son, frank Briggs of Cleveland, who was here to attend the funeral. FUNERAL OF ROBERT BRIGGS The funeral services of Robert Briggs were held at Evergreen Cemetery, at 4:30 o'clock, Monday afternoon. A few of the immediate friends and relatives of the deceased were present. Rev. A. F. Skeele conducted the services. Robert Briggs was the descendant of one of the most noted families of the earlier history of the country. His grandfather was an officer in Washington's army and the late governor of Massachusetts, George N. Briggs, was his father's brother. His father was Colonel S. B. Briggs, who died in this city in 1861. He is survived by a daughter, Miss Ethel Briggs-Call, of Perry, who was adopted by Solon Call of Perry, and Frank Briggs, of Cleveland.
