Burridge, Former Merchant, Postmaster, Dies George P. Burridge, and resident of this city for over half of a century and for many years a well known merchant here, died Monday night at his home. 146 State St., where he had been ill for some time following a heart attack. he was 83 years old last November. Only last May he was signally honored by the Masonic fraternity here for his 50 years of continuous membership in that order. he received a gold button from the grange lodge of Ohio and a silver medal, "presented in recognition of 50 years of faithful service,." each award had the emblem of Temple lodge in the city. He had joined Temple Lodge No. 28 in 1891. For a number of years he operated a grocery and novelty store on N. State St., just north of Main, in a building he owned. An ardent Democrat, he was an active worker in the party, and during the administration of Grover Cleveland as president, he was Painesville's postmaster. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Rites for Mr. Burridge will be conducted at the Nixon Funeral Home Thursday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Dayton R. Wright, rector of St. James. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at funeral home. Mr. Buridge's wife Kate M. Burridge, died may 10, 1938. His only survivor is a daughter, Mrs. E.G. Hrabak, 732 S. State St.
