Wilder Butterfield, after a year of feeble health, borne with unusual patience and cheerfulness, died at his residence in Perry, on Wednesday, the 6th of Dec. inst., aged 87 years. The deceased was a native of Westmoreland, N. H., where he was born July 18, 1789, and was married to Patty Huestis in 1810, who still survives at age 85, and it is quite remarkable that the long period of 66 years constituted the time of their married life. The deceased removed to Perry 42 years ago, where he has ever since been an esteemed, active and most useful and valued citizen, holding the love and friendship of his entire circle of acquaintances. Besides his aged wife, four daughters and one son are still living: Mrs. L. B. Parker, of Kingsville, O.; Mrs. John Dow, of Madison, O.; J.W. Butterfield, Mrs. J.J. Thompson, Mrs. C.M. Coolidge, of Perry. He has been a mason for nearly half a century, and was one of the oldest and worthy members of Temple Lodge, of Painesville. His funeral took place last Sunday, with the services, rights and ceremonies of the Masonic Fraternity and attended by a large concourse of other friends and citizens generally. Rev. Mr. Smith, of the M. E. Church of Perry, was the officiating clergyman.
