Call was born in Perry, Ohio, November 4, 1836; was educated at Madison Seminary and Hiram college; and for some years was engaged in teaching. She was converted when a girl in her teens and united with the North Perry Methodist Episcopal church. She was married to Thomas Thompson, November 1, 1859, and the whole of their married life was spent on their farm on the South Ridge in the township of her birth. Three children Mrs. Statira A. Orcutt of Cleveland; Mrs. Natalia A. Tuttle of Painesville; and Amherst M. Thompson of Perry, with her husband were with her during her last illness and did all that love could suggest to smooth her passage to her final home. As a wife and mother she was true to the trust thus laid upon her. Inflexible in Purpose, yet strong in love, stern in the face of duty, yet with a heart to appreciate and often anticipate the need of others, she made her home the center of her children's and grandchildren's pleasure, and her welcome was in itself a delight. Her Christian life was not demonstrative, but its interest increased and deepened till the last. In her well-worn Bible many a selected verse or passage is marked, while copied passages and religious poetry.
