Cook, 77, prominent city attorney and widely known as county prosecutor from 1924 to 1928, died at 1 a.m. today at his home, 306 W. 53rd Street, after a lingering illness. Born in Painesville, August 1, 1865. Mr. Cook came to Ashtabula from Youngstown. besides his county office, he served on the city council from 1902 to 1906. He was a member of the county Bar Association, being admitted to the bar in Youngstown in 1911. He also belonged to the Methodist Church, Rising Sun Lodge 22, F. and A. M., Eastern Star Lodge and the Grange. He was a past high priest of Western Reserve Chapter. Other affiliations were with the K. of P. and Elks, and Knights Malta. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Alice B. Cook; three sons, Blake of Kent, Earl of Toledo, and Floyd of Columbus, a daughter Mrs. Grace Morrow of Kent, and two grandchildren. There are also six stepchildren, Mrs. Hazel Harber, Youngstown, Mrs. Esther Hunt, Cincinnati, Mrs. H. P. Stevens, Akron, Mrs. Helen Sullivan, Murfreesboro, Tenn., Mrs. Elwood Sherman, Bellvue, Kentucky and Donald Halter, Akron. Funeral services will be at the Leo. D. Brown Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday, Rev. Herbert White of the First Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Perry Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday night.
