E. Crain, 86, Lake County Pioneer, Dies Picturesque Figure Spent Entire Life Here; Hold Funeral Today Franklin E. Crain, 86, of 224 S. St. Clair Street, died at the home of his son Max J. Crain of Perry, Saturday at 2 p.m. Mr. Crain was one of a family of Lake County pioneers. he was born in Painesville township, near the Storrs and Harrison nursery, in 1844. he had always lived here. A picturesque figure, Mr. Crain was a character well known in this district. He was a harness maker by trade. He was well known as a Santa Claus in Lake County and the Palace Theatre, in Cleveland. He will be missed on Painesville streets, as he was active up until his a short time before his death. he joined the Cornucopia branch of the Odd Fellows lodge, at the age of 80. Four children, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive him. The three sons are Paige Crain of Enunclaw, Washington; Earl W., of Geneva; and Max J., of Perry. He also leaves one daughter, Mrs. Grace Burrows of Painesville. Funeral services were to be held at 2 o'clock today at the home of Max Crain, of Perry. Burial was to be in Perry Cemetery.
