The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Deb Breniser rbcobb@ncweb.com August 27, 2000 *********************************************************************** From the Painesville Telegraph, Lake County, OH, Saturday, 25 September 1943 PERRY MANS MEETS DEATH IN COLORADO MINING ACCIDENT Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gerlica Sr., Lockwood Rd., North Perry, received a telegram from Leadville, Colo., Friday afternoon informing them of the death in a mine accident of their son Frank Jr. The 34-year old man, who had been working in mines in Colorado for about three weeks, was said to have been killed Thursday afternoon. The body is to be returned to North Perry for burial, but funeral arrangements are as yet complete, the family said today. Mr. Gerlica was born in Austria and came to this country at the age of 12. He attended Perry schools and was employed at the Industrial Rayon corporation before his induction into the army about a year ago. He received his honorable discharge Aug. 15, after training for some time at Fort Ord., California. Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Walter Ranney and Mrs. Joseph Zuzek both of Cleveland and a brother John of Columbus.
