Note: I am interested in SLOSSER, SCHLOSSER and SLUSHER surnames in Lawrence County to include u/i (to me) Nat SLOSSER mentioned below. Also location of unknown "McArthur Station". The repairs at the Baptist church will not be commenced until after the Friday Night's concert. Gen. Enochs has been putting in good work for the railroad company in getting the rights of way. Miss Minnie James of Danville, Ill., and a former resident of this city, is visiting at W. M. Skelton's. Thurman Tweed who killed Nat Slosser, at McArthur Station a few days ago, has been arrested. The Misses Ricker, Allison and Whitcomb will sing a beautiful trio at the coming concert. Don't fail to hear them. Phaetons are getting common. Bring on your laudelet with a cream-colored span and a starchy African aloft with the strings. Peter Lawrence was in town yesterday, and gave us a pleasant call. He is now building a new residence on Long creek. Don't fail to hear that fine instrumental music by Prof. Stroble and daughter, on the violin and piano, at the concert Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Morris entertain a large party of friends this Wednesday evening, on the occasion of their fifth anniversoty. Railroad building is the next thing in order, and the music of the shovel and the pic will float about on the balmy air of May, &c.
