The time fixed was 9 A. M., Friday 13th inst., and, as the time drew near, the crowd began to assembel in the Vicinity of the Provost Marshall's office. Dr. Cory had selected Mr. G. Smith, of Scioto county, a blind man, to draw the tickets from the box; not arriving at the specified time, a young lady was conducted to the temporary platform, immediately blindfolded, when the exercises commenced with the simple announcement of the order in which each township would be drawn -- Maj. Roberts Member of the Board of En- rollment, exhibited to the crowd a bundle of tickets which contained all the names of Persons subject to the draft in Hamilton Township. Dr. Cory turned the wheel and as the tickets were drawn, the names were announced. As soon as the requisite num- ber, including fifty per cent. more than the quota was drawn, the balance were taken from the wheel and counted, thus justifying the number both before and after the turn- ing the of wheel. A few moments delay and Elizabeth Township was placed in the wheel of fate; six townships were drawn the first day, and on the following day the remaining six. Dr. Cory turned the wheel, Mr. Smith drew the tickets, (except Hamilton Town- ship). Major Roberts announced the name, and passed it on to Dr. Coleman, who immediately entered it on the list. Every thing passed on without delay or inter- ruption, the crowd occasionally exhibiting great glee on recognizing the names of par- ties drawn; remarking "good for $300," "good for three years in the war," "already in the service," "dead" "a[censored],""a good democrat," "moved out west," etc. occasion- ally cheering with a hearty good will at some prominent name. From an examination of the following list drawn it will be observed that fate is "no respecter of persons,"neith- er is the dead excepted. It is in view of these facts that the fifty per centum is added. The draft will pro- ceed from day to day in the order as hither- to announced until the six counties are com- pleted. As there is a great amount of labor connected therewith, it may be several weeks before it is completed. __________ NAMES OF PERSONS DRAFTED ___________ HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, Rufus Davison, Pulasky Gowdy Jackson Young, John Malcar, James Barrett, Preston Frazier, John H.
