The unfortunate man was employed at the C.H. & D frieght house and was enroute to his home on Seventh street above Scott avenue when the distressing accident occured in attempting to alight from the train a short distance below Pleasant street. Mr. rauck's clothing caught on the car upon which he had been riding causiing him to fall beneath the train. The body was dragged for some little distance and when found a few minutes later death had ensued.A deep gash had been made in the back, teh right leg was cut off near the knee, the left ankle was badly shattered, teh left collar bone was broken, the head was badly injured and the body bruised in many places. The coroner was summoned and after viewing the remains ordered them removed to Bingaman and Jones' undertaking establishment where they were prepared for burial. Theh train upon which the illfated man was riding was the No. 1082 in charge of Conductor L.T. Smith. Mr. rauck caught the train near center street, and almost fell beneath the train as he grabbed hold of its spectators for an instant fearing that he would not be able to prevent himself from falling beneath the wheels. The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew rauck, deceased and a brother Chas. Rauck, cahier of theh C.H.&D office. He also leaves two sisters, Misses Florence and Sadie. A wife and two bright children are deprived of a kind and loving husband and father by his untimely and tragic death. Mr. Rauck was a man of many splendid traits of character, and his death brought sorrow to many a heart. The funeral services will be held sometime Monday.
