She was the daughter of Samuel Bassett, and was born in Rutland County, Vermont. At the age of 8 years she, with her parents, came to Licking County, where she remained until death called her home. At an early age the deceased made a public profession of the Christian religion and her devoted, godly life, ever after her profession gave evidence that it was no sham. She leaves two children, Mrs. Lucy Daniels of Licking County Ohio and Mr. Stephen Thomas of Iowa, who keenly feel the loss of a kin an affectionate mother, but the “sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.” The unusually large collection of friends and neighbors, that were present of the day of the funeral, gave evidence of the high esteem placed upon the life and character of “ Old Aunt Olive” as she was familiarly called. Her body was consigned to the earth in the cemetery at Granville.
