Sizelove, Sr. April 5, 2008 Partial readings Fleatown Cemetery aka Friendship Cemetery Licking Twp, Licking Co., OH This cemetery is quite old, located at the southeast corner of White Chapel Rd (TR306) and Jacksontown Rd. (SR13), just north of Jacksontown, Ohio, one road north of Hirst Rd. (CR310). The cemetery appears to be township owned, very poor condition, there are many large unique sandstone memorials that were probably beautiful in days long past, several cast iron fenced family plot enclosures. Sadly the cemetery has been either neglected and or severely damaged by vandals over the years, as most stones have been toppled and broken to a point many are no longer readable. This was my first visit to this cemetery, many dates on stones are only partially readable, but there seems to be burials as early as 1819, which makes it a very early cemetery for Ohio, there's possibly even earlier dates I just haven?t found yet, it appears to have been used up into modern time, indicated by dates in the late 1940's. My readings are only partial, representing less than a third of memorials at this small roadside cemetery. There doesn't seem to be much order to stone placement, could be due to vandalism, but I?m listing in alpha sequence, since there appears to be no rows, but rather plot sections here and there.
