GENERAL AFFIDAVIT State of Ohio, County of Licking, ss In the matter of Mary Fetzer widow of Jacob Fetzer last of Co. G. 76th O.V.I for Pension ON THIS 15TH day of April A.D. 1885 personally appeared before me a ________in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths Mary Fetzer aged 56 years, a resident of Newark in the County of Licking and State of Ohio well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declared in relation to aforesaid case as follows: "That she is Claimant in this case and the lawful wife of the late Jacob Fetzer of Co. G. 76th O. V. I. Who died on the 20th day of Jan 1870. Affivant further says that she cannot produce the testimony of the minister who married her because he is dead, and she cannot produce the record's of said marriage because they were burnt in the Court House of this city (Newark, Ohio) when said Court House burned down in 18__ but in leiu of same she present the affidavit of Jane Barrick, who was present at the ceremony of said marriage ----on the 1st day of September 1861. Her Post Office address is Newark, Licking County Ohio. She signed the document in what appears to be her own handwriting, Mary Fetzer. State of Ohio County of Licking Sworn to and subscribed before me this day by the above-named afflant, and I certify that I read said affidavit to said afflant, including the words ____erased, and the words ________added and acquainted her with its contents before she executed the same. I further certify that I am in nowise interested in said case, nor am I concerned in its prosecution; and that said afflant is personally known to me and that she is a credible person. Signed by a C. D Barrows I, C. G. Dickinson, Clerk of the County Court in and for aforesaid County and State, do certify that C. D. Barrows, Esq., who hath signed his name to the foregoing declaration and affidavit was at the time of so doing a Notary Public in and for said County and State, duly commissioned and sworn; that all his official acts are entitle to full faith and credit, and that his signature thereunto is genuine. V. I. ON THIS 20th day of October A. D. 1883; personally appeared before me a ___in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths. William R Shouman aged 47 years, a resident of Newark in the County of Licking and State of Ohio whose Post Office address is Newark, Ohio and___aged___years, a resident of _____in the County of ____and State of _____ whose Post Office address is ________well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn declare in relation to aforesaid case as follows: That he has been well and personally acquainted with Jacob Fetzer for 30 years, and 30 years respectively, and that for 10 years prior to his enlistment in the aforesaid organization in 1861 and 1862, during said 10 years he has an intimate aquaintance of said Fetzer and also that said Fetzer worked with him on the same farm for two years prior to his enlistment nearly every day and that said Fetzer was a stout hearty man at said time and free from any disease whatever and affiant further say's that when said Jacob Fetzer came home from the army in 1865 he was an invalid and was not able to perform manual labor of any kind and was not able to do a days work after that till he died in 18__. Affiant further states that he was present when said Fetzer died and affiant further states that he is intimately aquainted with Mary Fetzer the claimant and that she is the lawful wife of said Jacob Fetzer. The above facts are known to affiant by reason of his having been acquainted with both parties prior to and after their marriage and unto the present date and being in the same house and neighborhood from boyhood until the present time. Affiant further declare that he has no interest in said case and is not concerned in its prosecution. Signed by his own hand William R.
