Frame 0142-0168 for Obadiah Wilson OHIO Obadiah Wilson of Licking Co. in the State of Ohio who was a private in the Regiment commanded by Colonel Broadhead of the Pennsylvania line for the term of three years and ten months Inscribed on the Roll of Pennsylvania at the rate of (blurred)8 dollars per month, to commence on the 6th of May 1818. Certificate of Pension issued the 19th of Jan 1822 and sent to Hon Joseph Vance House of Repre. Arrears to 4th Sep 1826 $319.76 semi-anl. all'ce ending 4 Mar 1822 48.00 367.76 1 year , 3 months 2 Days$31?.30 The State of Ohio, Licking County ---- no.form On this 24the day of October AD 1820 personally appeared and in open court of common pleas from Newark for the County of Licking and State of Ohio being in court of record and previewing according to the court of the in law with a unlimited in point of amount and keeping a record of its proceedings. Obadiah Wilson aged 62 years residence Licking Co. aforesaid who being duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the promising of the Act of Congress of the 18th of Mar. 1818 and the 1st of May 1820. That he served in the Revolutionary War in the company commander as he believes by Captain Mathew Jack, of the eight Regiment of the Pennsylvania line, Commicial by Col Broadhead as has been more of him stated in a declaration made before the Honorable Judge Wilson on the 6th day of May 1818. And I do solemnly swear that I was a resident citizen of the United States on the 18th day of Mar. 1818 and that I have not ever taken by gift, Sale or on any way disposed of to self with in the provision of the act of any acts entitled for certain personal land and Naval service of the United States in the Revolutionary War paper on the 18th day of March AD 1818 and that I haven't, nor has any person in truth for me any property, securities, contracts or debts to me Nor have I any income other than what is contained in . and to me OBADIAH WILSON To and declaration open court this day and year aforesaid A H Coffee Clk. Schedule of Property: I have besides necessary bedding and clothes. And I do further certify that this is the opinion of the said court the total amount in value of the property is believed in said schedule is Thirty Four dollars and Fifty cents. In witness wherefore I have made set my hand and seal of said court this 12 th day of Feb 1821 A H Coffey Clk Newark, O Dec 6 1850 My dear Sir I have been append to today in behalf of Rebecca Wilson the Widow of Obadiah Wilson, one of my old Rev. pensions to obtain a pension for her. The husband died about 24 years ago and drew a pension up to his death. As I have not the necessary data to draw up the Declaration, my papers are all unfortunately locked up in a Justice office who is will be absent for some days. This will probably make the case to test the question before the comparison to the amount to be paid. Will you look for his die (the husband). Declaration on file in the Department. Wilson also Servant in Waynes Indian War in the West. Which Im inquire into when I go out to see the Widow. She is about 20 miles from town. Write for the witn?? Yours ?? Mc Coys regement 8th Reg Penn Line 1776 3 years 6th May 1818 Not on Rolls William Wilson Judge Amos H. Caffee, agent Newark, Licking Co. OH The State of OHIO No One On the sixth day of May in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and eighteen before me the subscribers President of the Courts of common pleas for the fourth circuit of said state, personally appeared Obediah Wilson aged Sixty years a resident of the United States at present residing in the Co. of Licking and State of Ohio, who being by me first duly cautioned and sworn according to law Doth upon his oath make the following Declaration in order to obtain the provision of the late act of congress entitled "an act to provide for certain persons engaged in the Lnd and Naval Service of the United States in the Revolutionary War" That he enlisted in Pittsburg in the State of Pennsylvania some time in the fall of 1776 as he believes in a company commanded by Captain Mathew Jack of the eighth Regiment of the Pennsylvania line as a common soldier. that he continued to serve and bear arms against the enemy in the said corps in the service of the United States from the time of his enlistment for the term of three years and ten months and was Honorably discharged from the Service at Pittsburg in Pennsylvania. That his discharge was in writing assigned by Col. Broadhead and Colonel Byard but which discharge he has long since lost or destroyed. Deponent states that he was not engaged in any Battle of consequence during the time his service except a skirmish with the Indians above Pittsburg on the Allegheny River. That he was principally engaged on the Frontier hauling fortifications, and guarding the Frontier from the incussions of the Indians. Deponent states that he is old and inform said he is in very reduced and needy circumstances and needs the assistance of his country for support. And that he has no other evidence now in his power of his said services and further he hath not signed Obadiah Wilson Sworn to and subscribed before me the day and year aforesaid William Wilson i William Wilson Judge as a forsaid to hereby certify that is has been made apparent to my satisfaction that the said Obediah Wilson did serve in the Revolutionary War as stated in the forgoing deposition against the common enemy on the continental Establishment and also that he is now in reduced circumstances in life and is in need of the assistance of his country for support and I now transmit the proceedings taken and had before me to the Secretary for the Department of War agreeable to the aforesaid act of Congress In testimony, whereof I have hereunto set my name, officially at Newark this 6th day of May 1818 William Wilson Amos H. McDowell President of Ohio sixth Judicial County State of Ohio appearance Elias Pegg who being by State of OHIO Franklin County John A Mcdowell president of Ohio sixth Judicial Circuit court of the State of Ohio Personally appearance of Elias Pegg who being sworn that he was in the service of the Revolutionary War on the which he believes was in the year 1778 during which time he was well acquainted with Obadiah Wilson who was then a soldier in the same army and that he well believes that the said Obadiah Wilson was enlisted for three years during the war. and that he belonged to the eighth regiment of Pennsylvania commanded by Col. Broadhead and this deponent further believes that from what he has always understood that the said Wilson served out his time and was honorably discharged. McDowell before whom the within deposition appears to have been taken in and was at that time the presiding Judge of the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Ohio duly commissioned and sworn as such and to all who official acts as such full faith and credit is and ought to be given For Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affirmed my seal of Office at Franklinton this 20th day AD 1821 Abram J. McDowell clk State of Ohio Franklin County Personally appeared before me, John A. Dowell, President of the sixth Judicial Circuit of the State of Ohio, Elias Pegg who made and subscribed the deposition hereunto announced of lawful age and by me duly cautioned and sworn in addition to or explanation of his aforesaid deposition now testifies I that to his personal knowledge he said Obadiah Wilson did serve in the army of the revolution in the continental establishment for the period of minimum with upwards in the eighth regiment of Pennsylvania and for the further particulars he now makes reference to his afore said deposition 29 day of Jan 1821 Signed Elias Pegg The State of Ohio Franklin County I Abner J McDowell clerk of the court of common pleas of said county do certify that the above named A.M. McDowell Esq before whom in the above deposition appears to have been taken in and was at the time of so doing the prescribing judge of the sixth Judicial Circuit of Ohio duly compadient and qualified as such and to whom official acts as such full faith and credit is due in ought to be. In testimony whereof I have her unto set my hand and affixed my seal of Office at Franklinton this 12the day of October AD 1821 Abram J McDowell clk The State of Ohio Guernsey Co. Before me Thomas Henderson one of the associate judges of the court of common pleas of said county this day personally came duly cautioned and sworn deposit and saith that he is well acquainted with Obediah Wilson a soldier in the Revolutionary War. That the said Obadiah Wilson was enlisted as near as this deponent can now recollect in the year 1777 in the eighth Pennslyvania Regiment in the Company of Captain Moses Carson, that the said Obadiah Wilson continued in the service about two years in the same company with this deponent and was honorably discharged at Pittsburg shortly after Broadhead campaign. That during the said term of service the said Obadiah Wilson conducted himself as a good faithful and true soldier of his county and further this deponent saith not Peter Wriovey sp. Sworn to and subscribed before me at Cambridge the seventh day of March Anno Domine 1821 I also certify that I am well acquainted with the above deponent Peter Wiuck and that he is a person, to whose testimony full credit may be given Given with my hand and seal Tho. Judge The State of Ohio Jefferson County personally came before me, Benjamin Tappen President of the Fifth district of the court of common pleas for and State Benjamin Pegg and after being duly sworn deponent said forth that Obediah Wilson in the year 1779 received a regular discharge by Colonel Broadhead and Lieutenant Coloney Byand for having faithfully served for the term of 3 years in the service of the Revolutionary War as a private Soldier said Broadhead and Byand commanded the eighth Regiment of the Pennnsylvania line that this deponent further said that when he first knew said Wilson he belonged to Capt. Mathew Jacks Company of said Regiment but before the expiration of said term was removed to Capt.
