Colville the husband of Leah Colville and that the said James W. Colville is dead and that they know that the said James W. Colville is dead. From the following reason to wit they was as his funeral the said Simion Brown saw him often he was dead and that he died in November A.D. 1878 and that his funeral took place on the 9th day of November A.D. 1878 and that said James W. Marriott,Justice of the Peace __________________________________________________ Camp Cross Roads, Maryland This 5th day of december, 1814 James Colville Corpl in Captn Colvilles Company, detailed from the 13th regiment of Virginia Militia, having performed a tour of duty, in the the service of the United States, commencing about the 1st of September last, is this day discharged, in pursuance of orders from major-general W. Scott, commanding the 10th Military District Daniel Coleman (signature) Saml Colville (signature) Captain (unintelligible) of the 6 Regt State of Ohio, County of Licking ss. On this thirtieth day of October A. D. 1850, personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace within and for the County and State aforesaid, James Colville aged fifty five years, a resident of Licking County in the State of Ohio who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical James Colville who was a Corporal in the Company commanded by Captain Samuel Colville in the Sixth Regiment of Virginia Militia commanded by Colonel Daniel Coleman in the war with Great Britain, declared by the United States, on the 18th day of June, 1812. That he was drafted at Woodstock, Shenando Co, Virginia on or about the first day of September A. D. 1814 for the term os six months, according to his recollection and continued in actual service in said war for the term of three months and was honorably discharged at Camp Cross Roads, Maryland on the fifth day of December A. D. 18114 as will appear by his original certificate of discharge herewith presented He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Bounty Land to which he may be entitled under the "Act granting bounty lands to certain officers and soldiers who have been engaged in the military service of the United States," passed September 28, 1850. James Colville Sworn to and subscribed before me the day and year above written. D. one thousand eight hundred and seventy one, personally appeared before me, Isaac W Bigelow Clerk of the Common Pleas Court, a Court of Record within and for the county and State aforesaid, James Colville, aged 76 years, a resident of Eden Township, County of Licking State of Ohio who, being duly sworn according to law, declaares that he is married; and that his wife's name before marriage Leah Baker, to whom he married at Licking County Ohio, on the day of August, 1827; that he served the full period of sixty days in the Military service of the United States in the war of 1812; that he is the identical James Colville who was drafted in Captain Samuel Colville's 6th Regiment commanded by Lieut. Col Danl Coleman at Woodstock, Shenandoah Co, Va, on about the first day of September 1814, and was honorably discharged at Camp Cross Roads Maryland on about the first day of December 1814 that they started first under orders to go to Norfolk got as far as Richmond where they were kept abo;ut a month at Camp Mitchell, from there to Fredericksburg, Alexandria, Washington City and from there to Camp Cross Roads where they were kept till they were discharge. Applicant wa a privaate in his brothers Co. He sent his discharge to Washington to get his Land Warrant which he got. his discharge is there on file and he refers to it. that he at no time during the late rebellion against the authority of the United States; adhered to the cause of the enemies of the Government, giving them aid or comfort, or exercised the functions of any office whatever under any authority, or pretended authority, in hostility to the United Statesl and that he will support the Constitution of the United States; that he is not in receipt of a pension under any previous act;thaat he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States, under the provision of the act approved Februaary 14, 1871, and he hereby constitutes and appoints, with full power of substitution and revocation, James W Owens of Newark his true and lawful attorney to prosecute his claim and obtain the pension certificate that may be issued; that his post office is at Long Run County of Licking State of Ohio that his domicile or place of abode is Eden Township Licking County Ohio James Colville (signature) applicant attest: John V Armstrong U.C. On this 5th day of June, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and seventy nine personally appeared before me G. W. Marriott a justice of the peace within and for the county and state aforesaid Leah Colville aged 78 years, a resident of Licking County, in the State of Ohio, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of James Colville deceased, who was the identical James Colville, who served under the name of James Colville as a provaate in the Company commanded by Captain Samuel Colville in theVirginia Militia in the war of 1812; that her said husband was drafted in A.D. 1814 for the term of six months, and continued in actual service in said waar for the term of three months and whose services terminated by reason of an honorable discharge A.D. 1814. She further states that the following is a full description of her said husband at the time of his enlistment. age 18 years occupation farmer eyes blue, hair black. She further states that she was married to the said James Colville in Newark Township, in the county of Licking, and in the state of Ohio on the 26 day of July A.D. 1827 by one Peter Smucker, who was a Minister of the gospel that her name before marriage was Leah Baker, and that she has not remarried since the death of said James Colville; and she further states that her husband nor her self had not been married previous and that her said husband James Colville, died at Licking County in the State of Ohio on the 7th of November A.D. 1878 and she further declares that..since the date of marriage has resided in the County of Licking and state of Ohio. She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Pension to which she may be entitled under Sections 4736 to 4740, inclusive, Revised Statutes, and the Acto of Maarch 9, 1878, and hereby appoints , with fufll powers of substitution and revocation T. L (????) of Licking County her true and lawful attorney.. And further declares that she has heretofore made no application for pension and that her residence is Eden Township ...and that her Post Office is Rocky Fork, Licking County Ohio Leah Colville signature of claimant (two attesting witnesses who can write their names) Elzey Dush Joseph Danielson Also personally appeared Elzey Dush , aged 63 years, residing in Licking County Ohio and Joseph Danielson aged 60 years, residing in Licking County. Marriott Justice of the Peace ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ State of Ohio Licking County On this 12th day of April A.D. one thousand Eight hundred and fifty five personally appeared before me a Notary Public within and for the County and State aforesaid James Colville aged about sixty years a resident of Licking County in the State of Ohio who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical person who was a Corporal in the Company commanded by Captain Samuel Colville of the 6th Regt of Militia commanded by Danl Coleman in the War with Great Britain declared by the United States on the 18th day of June 1812 for the term of three months and continued in actual service in said War for about three months, that he has heretofore made application for bounty land under the act of September the 28th 1850 and received a land Warrant No (not now remembered, for forty acres, which he has since legally disposed of and cannot now return. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the addition bounty land to which he may be entitled under the act approved the ? day of March, 1855. He also declares that he has never applied for nor received under this or any other act of Congress, any bounty land Warrant except the one above mentioned James Colville (signature) We, Elzey Dush & Thomas Ewing residents of Licking County in the State of Ohio upon our oaths declare that the foregoing declaration was signed and acknowledged by said James Colville in our presence and that we believe from the appearance and statements of the applicant that he is the identical person he presents him self to be Elzey Dush (signature) Thomas Ewing (signature) The foregoing declarations and affidavit were sworn to and subscribed before me on the day and year above written, and I certify that I know the affiants to be credible persons: that the claimant is the person he represents him self to be, and that I have no interest iin this claim.
