Dicken. George Dillon Dicken, son of John Dicken and Louisa Wilson, was born April 28, 1853, and died February 21, 1916, of double pneumonia in the St. Augustus Hospital at St. Petersburg, Florida. Two brothers, Clarence of Newark and Asias of Granville, and one sister, Mrs. Allie Harrod of Newark, are living, while five brothers and two sisters have preceded him to the great beyond. He was united in marriage with Rowena Green Feb. 10, 1875. Three children were born -one son, Dillon Wilber, who died in infancy, and two daugters, Grace T. Dicken, and Mary Dicken Myers, who with his wife survive to mourn the loss of a most loving and thoughtful father and husband. For nearly fifty years he has been a faithful and efficient member of the White Chapel Methodist Episcopal church. The Bible, to him, was the Book of Books, Isaiah being especially precious. He was an industrious and frugal farmer, but was interested in all movements for the betterment of mankind, giving liberally to such. The funeral services were held in White Chapel Feb. 24, Rev. J. R. Tibbles, assisted by Revs. Fry, Talor and Buell, officiating. The remains lie in the Green cemetery. A mighty man has fallen! Gone, but not forgotten! He will long live in the memories of those who knew him.
