Death of Mrs. F. M. Carter Tuesday Night This Noble Lady Breathes Her Last. The protracted Illness of Mrs. F. M. Carter, culminated in her death, on Monday at 12 p.m. Mrs. Carter was born just outside of Granville on Loudon street, February 1st, 1832. Her maiden name was Minerva Statira Harris. In early youth, she joined the Granville Congregational Church, under the pastorate of Rev. Jacob Little and maintained throughout her life, a consistent, Christian character. In September 1851, she was united in marriage to Francis M. Carter and was the mother of five children, her husband and two daughters, Misses Anna Lou and Dolly, survive to mourn her loss although they feel "that Heaven is nearer and dearer for being the home of the so dearly beloved". Mrs. Carter's life was characterized by boundless patience, true womanly unselfishness and by deeds of loving kindness. The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church, Wednesday afternoon at three o'clock. Below the Times quotes a few of the remarks made by the Rev. E. W. Childs, who conducted the funeral services. Mr. Childs selected the following text: "As for me, I shall behold the face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness." - Ps. Xvii, 15.
